Curb or curbless: what changes
A standard walk-in shower has a low curb at the entry that keeps the water in. A curbless shower has no step: the shower floor slopes toward the drain, often a linear drain, so you walk straight in.
Your designer shows you both in 3D on our showroom screen before you decide.
Side view, not to scale. The blue line is the shower floor sloping to the drain.
Shower glass
Custom shower glass, drawn and approved before it is cut
Made by our partner Always Glass & Mirror for your shower, not taken off a shelf.
Measured for your opening
The glass company measures your shower on site, so the glass is made for your opening, not a catalog size.
You approve the drawing
We share the glass drawings with you for approval before anything is cut: door opening, handle, finish and where everything sits.
Installed near the end
The glass goes in near the end of the job, after the tile is done. Every project includes a two-year labor warranty; most remodelers offer one year.

Questions
Shower remodeling FAQ: tub conversions, glass and permits
Can you convert my tub to a walk-in shower?
Yes. We take out the tub and build a tiled walk-in shower with a niche and custom glass, in the same space, planned, permitted and built like every other remodel.
Do you build curbless showers?
Yes. We build walk-in showers with a curb and curbless showers with no step at the entry. Your designer shows you both in 3D on our showroom screen so you can choose.
Who makes the shower glass?
Our partner Always Glass & Mirror makes custom shower glass for our bathrooms. Your glass is made for your shower opening, and we share the drawings with you for approval before anything is cut. The glass goes in near the end of the job.
Do I need a permit to remodel a shower?
A shower remodel that changes plumbing or walls usually needs a permit, and the rules differ by county and city. We handle the whole permit process, from the building and trade permits to the county fees and every inspection, so you never deal with the county.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A standard bathroom remodel that keeps the same layout (new tub or shower, vanity, toilet, floor, tile and fixtures) takes 3 to 4 weeks of construction. A larger primary bathroom with layout changes, a bigger shower, a freestanding tub or custom tile takes 4 to 8 weeks. Before that, design and planning usually take 2 to 6 weeks, and permits, where needed, add time. Construction starts only when every material is in our warehouse and the permits are in hand, so the work doesn't stop for a backordered part. These are typical times from our jobs, not a promise; your designer gives you your own schedule.
What if I keep my tub?
Bathrooms that keep a tub get a shower rod, unless you choose a glass panel or door in your design.
Do you remodel showers in Maryland and Washington, DC?
Yes. We are licensed in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, and fully insured, including workers' compensation. Our Bethesda showroom serves Montgomery County and DC.
