Fairfax Kitchen and Bath was contacted by the owners of a property in Reston, Virginia. The property was an older home and needed some updating. It didn’t look horrible, but was definitely outdated with mid-20th-century cabinets and countertops.
The home first belonged to the husband’s grandmother and it was then passed down to him. He felt it was time to remodel the kitchen and bathrooms with new floors, countertops, vanities and cabinetry. The wife also wanted a nice wrap-around backsplash near the counters and as a border beneath the cabinets near the floor.
The experts at Fairfax Kitchen and Bath came to the property to provide an estimate for the materials and services. The couple was relieved to hear our quote and accepted it right away.
After our contractors completed the remodeling, the couple was very pleased with the result. The bathrooms and kitchen gave the home a modern appeal. The work was performed quickly to ensure the family could get back to their daily lives as soon as possible.
The experts at Fairfax Kitchen and Bath met with the couple at our warehouse, where they selected the stones and products they wanted to use for the remodel. We then fabricated the pieces based on the measurements we took.
Once we completed the fabrication, we scheduled an appointment with the customers. We arrived first thing in the morning to commence the project. Our experts began with removing the old cabinets, flooring, vanities and countertops from the kitchen and the two bathrooms. The process took all day. The following day, we started installing the new cabinets inside the kitchen.
The countertops were next on the list, followed by the tile backsplash. This was wrapped around the top of the countertop and beneath the new cabinetry. The couple decided to go with dark brown cabinets for the kitchen. The flooring in the kitchen was also removed and replaced with white tile.
In the master and guest bathrooms, the vanities were replaced with tan ones from our line of products. The countertop was granite, just like the kitchen. They decided to go with a black stone for the kitchen and blue ones for the two bathrooms.
The floors were done last. The master bathroom had light blue and dark blue tile patterns and the guest bathroom had black and blue tile patterns. The look of the remodeled rooms were excellent. Our contractors did a great job with the craftsmanship. The couple decided to have edge profiles installed on all three countertops, which really made the design pop.

The counters you choose for your bathroom is just as important for your bathroom as it is for the kitchen. While you don’t bake, chop and prepare foods in the bathroom, you do use products that are high in heat.
Many homes have at least one person in the family who uses hot curlers, flat irons and hot combs. These can’t damage the surface of stone counters, so this makes it a great choice. They also come in so many different colors. Then to make them even more unique, they each have veins and specks that are differing, which act like a fingerprint. So, no two slabs are every the same.
Some folks go as far as to have an edge profile created for their counters.
Owning a home comes with great responsibility. When you wait too long to fix problems, you only allow the issues to pile up into an expensive mess. Unfortunately, I had to learn this the hard way. It got to the point where I needed to have my counters and cabinets redone in my kitchen.
My cousin told me about Fairfax Kitchen and Bath and how wonderful of a job they did for their home. I’d been to her home before and was impressed with her bathroom and kitchen counters. So, she came with me to their showroom to select the counters I wanted for my kitchen. I also saw the cabinets I wanted installed.
They were kind enough to give me a taste of the future by giving me a 3D design of the finished project. I was thrilled to see what it would look like for real, so I went ahead and hired them. It didn’t take long to finally see the outcome either. I’m still happy with the new work done to my Reston home.
