Bathtub and Shower Liners

Bathtub and Shower Liners

Bathtub and shower liners are a great and relatively cheap solution to cover up the scratches and the damage done to the surfaces of your tub or shower – all quickly and neatly, without making a mess of your bathroom, as you would with a full bathroom remodeling project. This is something that can be accomplished in a very short period of time, with limited budget – if can even be a DIY project, and, to the untrained eye, it may look as if you had the entire room redone.

Get the Feeling of a Whole New Bathroom

The best thing about using bathtub and shower liners is that they create a feeling of having an entirely new bathroom, but without the cost of a full refurbishment cost, of course. Both the tub and the shower will look as if they’re brand new, and the liners cover up the walls behind them as well, making it look as if you’ve poured a lot of money into an expensive solution.

Bathtub and Shower Liners Fit Like a Glove

Another thing to consider is that bathtub and shower liners can fit on any custom model without extra cost. This is a huge advantage for people who have customized showers or tubs, or tricky spaces, with additional corners, or rounded items. These are difficult to replace without making a big investments, and therefore covering them up is often the ideal solution.

If the Core Is Rotten, the Liners Can’t Do Much

Sometimes, and even with the best effort in the world, the bathtub and shower liners won’t be enough to get a proper job done, and the end result keeps looking like you’re trying to cover up a mess. That usually happens when the item is so damaged, that it really needs replacing – not even the best liners in the world can hide that. It’s a good idea to talk to an experienced contractor and get their point of view as well. This can save you some money – there’s no point in going through the whole experience only to discover later on that you really needed to purchase new items from the beginning. This typically tends to be the case when there’s a lot of mould damage – liners make the problem only worse, because water gets trapped under the lining layer and adds to the mould in time.

Careful with the Measurements Before You Install the Liners

As with every redecoration project, make sure you get the measurements right before you start. This is extremely important, particularly when you’re working in a small space: you’ll be adding an extra layer to your existing tub and shower, which means there will be even less space in the room once you’re finished. Sometimes people are not aware of that, and they’re disappointed with the result – when in fact this is what they bargained for from the beginning.

Balance the Costs against the Benefits

While liners are a great solution, far cheaper than purchasing a new bathtub or a new shower, they’re still more expensive than refinishing. Of course, refinishing does not project that image of an entirely new bathroom design, so you should think carefully of what you need, before you embark on this project.
