Purcellville Property Owners Redo their Kitchen and Bath

kitchen bathroom remodeling purcellville va

Fairfax Kitchen and Bath was contacted by a married couple regarding their home in Purcellville, VA. They were looking to have new floors laid in the kitchen, bathrooms and the hallways. They also wanted to have new carpets laid in each of the four bedrooms and living room.

The kitchen was being completely remodeled, but Fairfax Kitchen and Bath was being hired to redo the kitchen cabinets, countertops and flooring. The bathrooms needed new counters and the walls were to be completely tiled in the smaller guest bathroom. The master bath needed a new vanity and counter top. Both bathrooms needed new sinks and faucets, which we offer as well.

The experts at Fairfax Kitchen and Bath came to the property to measure all the rooms that needed updating. Then an estimate was provided free of charge.

Updated Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Purcellville VA

The owner of the Purcellville property was delighted with the work we provided. The quality of the products we sell and the craftsmanship of our installations were also satisfying to the client. The couple was relieved with the speediness of our work, since they had to live in the home while it was being remodeled. We gave them advice for setting up a second kitchen in the dining area, while the main kitchen was being worked on.

Remodeling the Home

The couple came to our warehouse to select the products they wanted installed. We fabricated the items, then set up an appointment to do the installations. A week later, we began the project. Our contractors decided to begin in the kitchen to get it out of the way. It was a critical area, since the couple and their family needed it.

The floors were ripped up and the cabinets and counters were removed. Next, we laid down the new tile, which was a pattern of black and white squares. The cabinets were then installed. There were additional cabinets implemented, providing the couple with more storage space. The granite countertops were installed last. This was a dark gray color.

The bathrooms were done next. The guest bathroom needed the countertop and a new sink and faucet installed. Tile was also to be installed all over the walls. The master bathroom required a new vanity set, as well as sinks and faucets. The master bath was completed first, then the guest bathroom was done. Both bathrooms had granite countertops installed.

The last to be done were the bedrooms and living room, which required new carpeting. The couple chose from our selection of colors and textures.

Purcellville VA

Purcellville is a cozy town inside of Loudoun County, Virginia. It has a population of over 9,200 people. It may not seem like much, but it’s actually the major population center for Loudoun Valley and western Loudoun. A lot of the homes you find in this community have Victorian architectures, which was quite popular during the early 20th century. You can also find Patrick Henry College here.

The first land grant for this area was provided in 1740, but Purcellville wasn’t settled in until 1764. The first settler was a guy from Bucks County, Pennsylvania named James Dillon. In 1752, the Ketoctin Baptist Church was founded. The first business to be established here was a store and inn, which was established by a man named Abraham Vickers in 1799. Then in 1804, another one was opened by Stacey Taylor. Afterward, a Purcel’s store and a post office were opened.

Not much fighting was seen here during the Civil War, even though many Union and Confederate Soldiers passed through here. However, there was a skirmish at what’s known as Heaton’s Crossroads. Later, during the 20th century, there were a series of fires. The first fire took place in 1900, which was followed by two others in 1914. These destroyed the business district, which was catastrophic for the town’s architectural heritage.

Things to See and Do in Purcellville, Virginia

Today, you can find plenty of breweries, wineries and vineyards in Purcellville, VA. Some you can check out include Catoctin Creek Distillery, Sunset Hills Vineyard, Old 690 Brewing Company and Goose Creek Farm and Winery – Otium Cellars.

As for outdoor activities, there are local parks you can check out, such as Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship and Fireman’s Field. Performance arts lovers should definitely check out Franklin Park Performing & Visual Arts Center.

Lovettsville Homeowners Receive Full-Service Kitchen and Bath Remodel

kitchen bathroom remodeling lovettsville vaFairfax Kitchen and Bath was contacted by a farm house owner in Lovettsville. He was looking to have his property renovated with a new kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen had outdated cabinets and counters, as well as the bathroom. The customer received a free estimate from one of our contractors, who came to his home to do measurements.

The customer then came to our showroom to pick out the granite and quartz slabs he wanted for the two rooms. He selected a beautiful white granite stone slab with black veins and a dark gray quartz slab with specks of white and black veins.

A Masterfully Completed Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Lovettville

The kitchen and bathroom renovation performed by Fairfax Kitchen and Bath gave the farmhouse modern appeal. It was a done job well done by our contractors, who spent hours meticulously designing each area of the kitchen and bathroom.

Our professionals were responsible for updating the floors, sinks, vanities, cabinets, countertops and faucets. The products were purchased from our quality line of goods. The outcome satisfied the customer and his so much so that he vowed to hire us again for another property he owned nearby.

Remodeling the Farmhouse Kitchen

The kitchen was very large. It had a typical farm house design with a wide and deep sink and lots of counters and cabinets. The countertops were wooden and outdated, with chipped and peeled areas. The quartz stone really made the kitchen come to life. The cabinets were redone first, using our brilliant dark wooden cabinetry.

The floors were made with hardwood, so it vibed well with the new cabinets. The sink and faucet were installed last. The kitchen had a new kitchen island recently installed, which had a butcherblock counter. This was stained to match the wooden floors and cabinets.

Remodeling the Farmhouse Bathroom

There was only one bathroom built at the time of the installation. The owner talked of adding another one soon, which he wanted our professionals to remodel. The current bathroom had a large clawfoot bathtub and now standalone shower. The sink was attached to the wall and had an old-fashioned armoire on the opposite side of the bathroom.

Our contractors removed the sink and installed the new vanity and sink to that area. The new focal point of the bathroom gave it a contemporary feel. The clawfoot bathtub was a great touch to the overall décor the bathroom, so he decided to keep that. The granite stone countertops matched well with the new tile floors.

The entire project took our contractors four days to complete. It was a quick and easy process, which our customer really appreciated.

Lovettville, VA

Lovettsville is a Loudoun County town located in Virginia. It can be found north of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In the earlier days, the first settlers to reach Lovettsville were made up mostly of German immigrants. The city was first established back in 1836.

As of 2010, the population of the town was around 1,600 people. It’s a quaint little town with lots of history and things to offer its residents.

During the 1700s, the Treaty of St. Albans was created to establish a buffer zone between the German settlers and the Native Americans. The division line was the Blue Ridge Mountains. The white settlers then started to come to Loudoun Valley to establish villages and to farm on the rich topsoil. Many of the homes were mad from logs and wood. At this time, the area became known as The German Settlement.

Then later in 1820, a man named David Lovett began subdividing the area into quarter-acre city lots. This was the beginning of the construction boom. The town then became known as Newtown because of the rate of expansion. It wasn’t until 1836 when the town was renamed Lovettsville and established as a city by the Virginia General Assembly. Then in 1876, it was finally incorporated as a city.

What Can Be Found in Lovettsville Today?

In today’s Lovettsville, you can still find various farms. There are also wineries and vineyards and entertainment venues like performance symphonies and historical museums. Some of the farms you can find here include Blue Ridge Mountain Dairy, Butterfly Bend Farm and Patowmack Farm. If you want to visit some of the local wineries and vineyards, you can go to Creek’s Edge Winery and Hiddencroft Vineyards.

Then for a little bit of history, there’s the Lovettsville Historical Society and Museum. You can also go to the Loudoun Symphonic Winds to hear performances from talented instrumentalists. Lovettsville has a small town feel that’s heartwarming and fun.

Lorton, VA Real Estate Agent Spruce Up Two Duplexes for Quicker Occupancy

Fairfax Kitchen and Bath was contacted by a realtor in Lorton, Virginia who wanted to upgrade two duplexes with natural stones and other features. Our professionals came to the properties to assess what was needed to and to perform measurements. We always make sure to take down measurements twice to ensure we have the correct numbers.

The realtor requested that we replace the countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms with granite stone. The vanities and cabinets were also to be replaced. Tile walls were to be implemented in the bathrooms, along with a backsplash in the kitchen. We provided a reasonable quote and the real estate agent was obliged to accept the offer.

Happy Renters Equals Happy Realtor

The property manager of the two duplexes was very happy with the work we had performed on the two duplexes. He was able to rent out both properties fairly quickly after posting up ads online. The renters that moved into the place were also satisfied with the overall look of the place, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. We always make sure to provide the best quality stone fabrications and products. Our licensed professionals are skilled in installing these items efficiently.

The Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling Project Lorton VA

When our experts arrived to the property, we got to work right away on one of the duplexes. We began with the kitchen redo, removing the countertops and cabinets for replacement. The realtor came to our showroom to select the cabinets and granite stones he wanted to be installed in the two properties. Our professionals fabricated the stone using the measurements we took, which turned out to be an exact fit. After removing the cabinet and counters, we began installing the new cabinets, then the counters. The backsplashes were implemented last.

Next, were the two bathrooms. The vanities were removed from both restrooms, then replaced with new ones from our line of products. The granite stone was installed on the vanity and the wall in the shower was remodeled with tile from a brand we partner with. The same was done for the second bathroom. The time it took to complete the first duplex was two days. Then we got to work on the second, which took the same amount of time. In less than a week, we were able to provide the realtor with newly updated duplexes. We made sure to clean up the mess, so the property was in good condition for the new tenants.

Lorton is a city located in Fairfax County, Virginia. The 2010 census shows it had a population of over 18,600 people. It is a cozy town that was named after Lake District National Park, Cumbria, which is a village in England. Coincidentally, one of the first settlers to the city was Joseph Plaskett of the Cumbrian village. He ran a general store in the area and also opened up a Post Office in Lorton Valley in 1875. Before the town became known as Lorton, it was known for its commercial center called Colchester and the spiritual and historical centers Pohick Church, which is the same church President George Washington and George Mason went to worship.

Lorton was the site of Washington DC’s correctional facility since the early 20th century until 2001. This facility was called the Lorton Reformatory, which held 168 women between June and December 1917. These women were detained from the women’s suffrage movement.

Later in 1955, a Nike missile site was created and remained there until 1973. There’s an Amtrak station here, which is one of the two that serves its Auto Train line, which takes passengers non-stop from Lorton to Sanford, Florida.

Adams Morgan Couple Gets their Dream Bathroom at a Fraction of the Cost!

kitchen bathroom remodeling adams morgan vaThere are many beautiful and traditional communities throughout the Washington D.C. area. One worth noting is Adams Morgan, which is a culturally diverse neighborhood situated Northwest of D.C. It can be found at the intersection of Columbia Rd and 18th St. What sets this neighborhood apart from the others is its higher concentration of Hispanics.

It features a boasting nightlife and colorful buildings that resemble the communities one would find in South America and the Caribbean. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to keep both visitors and residents occupied and happy.

The buildings here are older, some having been built during the 19th and early 20th centuries. There is an assortment of houses and apartment buildings, offering a community where residents can work, live and play. Nearby, you will find other communities like Dupont Circle, Mount Pleasant, Connecticut Ave and Columbia Heights.

The area was named Adams Morgan (once Adams-Morgan), after two segregated elementary schools – Thomas P. Morgan and John Quincy Adams. After a supreme court ruling in 1954, schools were desegregated.

Things to See and Do

Those who decide to move to Adams Morgan will find plenty of things to see and do. The diversity here makes it rather exciting. There’s something for just about everyone here, even the bookworms, who can check out Idle Time Books to find a good read. It’s been around since the 80s and offers a great selection of over 50,000 new and used books.

There are also shops where you can pick up nice gifts and knick knacks, clothing, shoes and household items. After a day of shopping, you can enjoy fantastic meals from places like Roofer’s Union, which features meals from executive Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley. Here, you can find classic American dinners and a bar. You can also eat meals on the rooftop.

A Bathroom Remodel On a Budget

Most homeowners today are looking for a better bang for their buck. At Fairfax Kitchen and Bath, we have designed various bathroom remodeling package to cater to these individuals and families. One client of ours reached out to us because they were looking to do a bathroom makeover that wouldn’t cost them an arm and a leg. And more importantly, they didn’t want any surprise fees and charges.

The bathroom remodeling packages we offer come complete with the price, and we go over any additional taxes and fees, so you know exactly what you’ll pay at the end of the remodel. This is what made them decide to do business with us – that and our great portfolio of bathroom remodels.

The issue with this client’s bathroom was that it was a bit small, but what really irked the homeowner was the outdated fixtures, floors and paint. The counters were chipped and the sinks and tub were scratched.

The client decided to go with a complete bathroom remodel, with us focusing on switching out all the water and light fixtures, laying down new tile, implementing a shower backsplash and painting the walls. He was looking for a whole new look, which would include beautiful stone countertops for the vanity.

The End Product Was Spectacular

At the end of the remodel, the client was mesmerized with the results. He was really surprised at the quality and craftsmanship of our professionals. He has also ecstatic with the professionalism of our customer service. He liked being in the loop of what was going on and we accommodated him every chance we could.
After the bathroom remodel was completed, he was inspired to work on other areas of his home. Some of these projects he decided to hire us for. This project was completed right around the holidays, just in time for his visitors. He wrote us an email stating how he no longer felt embarrassed about having guests over and how actually looked forward to it.

What the Project Entailed

At the start of the project, we decided to rip out all of the fixtures and floors, since everything was being done all over again. No permits were required, since no water lines were being installed or tampered with. Everything was going to go right where it was, but with new fixtures.
The client decided to go with a clawfoot bathtub this time around and a beautiful granite countertop vanity. He decided to go with the Cambria brand we offer. The backsplash of the bathtub was also match the vanity.

The length of this project was only a few weeks, since there were no hassles with payments, paperwork and permits.
All of the products used for the product, except for the sink handles, were provided through Fairfax Kitchen and Bath. Our customers like the fact that we are a one-stop shop for their bathroom remodeling needs. We offer bathroom products from an assortment of brands. For instance, we have cabinets from Touchstone Fine Cabinetry and Echelon, to name a few.

We offer an assortment of stone countertops, such as granite, marble and quartz from brands like Silestone, Cambria and Caesarstone. To complete the vanity set, our customers are also able to choose from an assortment of edge types for the counters, as well as sinks and faucets from brands like Blanco, Brita and Allora.

Full Service Kitchen Remodeling for Gainesville Family

kitchen bathroom remodeling gainesville vaThe census-designated place of Gainesville is located in Prince William County with a total land and water area of 10.3 square miles. It is the third largest CDP in the county. It is also the third "snobbiest" places in Virginia according to Roadsnacks.net based on median income, education, and private schools. The median household income in Gainesville is $128,472, with the state median at $66,262. On the other hand, The Washington Post calls it the "best city for young families in Virginia," and has the highest percentage of families with at least one child under 18 in the state.

That is certainly a departure from its early roots, which is a pit stop for stagecoaches traveling on the Fauquier and Alexandria Turnpike. It was only in 1852 that the Manassas Gap Railroad reached the area that it got the name Gainesville. From that point on, it became a major shipping hub for cattle, timber, and grain until the 1960s. However, it was only in 1994 that Gainesville began development as a residential area when the first town homes, appropriately enough called Crossroads, were built.

To address the growing traffic problem in the area, the Virginia Department of Transportation began building the Gainesville Interchange in 2006. The project was completed in 2015. More plans to improve accessibility to the CDP from Washington, D.C, Fairfax County, and Manassas is underway with the scheduled opening of a Virginia Railway Express station in 2022.

The total population of Gainesville as of 2016 is 12,145, of which 58.9% are white, 15.9% are Asian, 11.5% are African American, and 10.2% are Hispanic.

Things to Do Around Gainesville

One of the things you can count on when in Gainesville is the shopping. There are currently six major shopping malls in the CDP, the largest of which is at the I-66 and Lee Highway intersection. You will find many of the big box stores such as Target and Best Buy, as well as many small retail stores and restaurants. Head on over to the US-15 and you'll find the Wegmans Food Markets.

If you want to watch a movie, the Regal Theaters have been showing flicks in 2013. You might also what to head on over to The Promenade with the little ones for some indoor activities, or the Hillwood Camping Park for some outdoor adventures, Is it teatime? Head on over to the Teatime Tea Room, of course!

Back to colonial days

The clients are a young family with three pre-teens that have recently moved to the area. They had acquired a 5-bedroom 3-bathroom Colonial-style home with a raised patio and a large backyard. Surprisingly, the kitchen was quite small. The floors were hardwood, the cabinets made of oak, and the counters were black quartz. It was a modern kitchen that did not look well with the rest of the home. The clients wanted a much bigger kitchen with a more Colonial theme. They contacted us for a quote on a major kitchen remodel.

Consultation

We arrived at the house on the scheduled date, and saw at once that the open floor layout was marred by the counters that delineated the kitchen from the dining room. The kitchen island was also far too small and off-center. Our staff designer made a quick sketch of the existing layout as we did the measurements. We then sat down to discuss possible changes to the layout.

The designer suggested removing the counters and wall between the kitchen and dining room, which served to enclose the kitchen, and to enlarge and move the kitchen island in its place. We could reuse the cabinets and sink to create the bigger island and maintain the available storage space. It would entail replacing the island countertop and relocating wood flooring to cover the bare spots. We would also have to repaint the walls of the kitchen and dining room a more neutral color. The clients were receptive to the suggestions, and the designer promised to send over the proposed design in the next few days.

Collaboration

The designer worked on the new layout in 3D modeling software, and sent it to the clients for approval. Our designer suggested retaining the main quartz counters, but putting in a much lighter-colored stone on the new island. The new wall paint would echo the coffee and cream color of the living room to create a continuous flow from room to room. After a few weeks, the client approved the design, and scheduled a visit to the showroom to pick out the materials.

Showroom visit

The clients arrived on schedule, and looked through the various quartz stone samples to pick out the island counter. We advised the clients to remove all the breakables from the kitchen and to put protective covers on all the furniture in the dining and living room before the scheduled project start. The paid a deposit for the stones and left.

Construction

Because the kitchen was the hub of the home, and construction would be very disruptive, the clients arranged for the children to stay with relatives for the duration of the build. When the work crews arrived on project start day, the kitchen was ready. The crew moved the appliances and everything else the family had not removed to the backyard and covered everything with a heavy-duty tarpaulin. With all the prep work done, the work started in earnest. The existing island and counters were the first to go. When the bare structures have been established, the painting of the walls commenced. It was already obvious in the first few days that the reno was going to transform the look of the main level.

Installation

The Silestone slabs came in 10 days later, just as the templates were being made. It was perfect timing that seldom happens in renovations! With the construction nearly done and the slabs ready for installation, it was just a matter of a couple of days before we could put the finishing touches to the project and move back the appliances.

Post installation

The kitchen was now truly a colonial one, and the new kitchen island was the centerpiece. We actually added storage space because the old island had been under-utilized due to the small space available to move around in before it was moved. With much more space all around, it was a good place to work and play.

Renovation success

We at Fairfax Kitchen & Bath specialize in complete kitchen remodels, and this could easily have turned into one. However, we chose to minimize the clients' costs by making key changes to the layout and reusing what we could rather than gutting it completely. The results could not have been better, and the clients could not have been happier. Mission accomplished!

Contact Fairfax Kitchen & Bath for all your kitchen and bathroom remodeling needs. We also do a great basement remodeling, with years of knowledge and skill behind everything we do. Take advantage of our free estimate and design consultation with NO OBLIGATION. It is the smart thing to do.

Hamilton Homeowner Makes Over their Bathroom and Kitchen with Granite

kitchen bathroom remodeling hamilton vaThe beautiful, yet tranquil town of Hamilton, VA is the home to over 700 citizens. Situated about six miles east of Hamilton you will find Leesburg, which isn’t too far from the Catoctin Mountain range. Hamilton is a part of Loudoun Valley, which is within Loudoun County.

There’s plenty of history here in Hamilton. Before it was colonized by Europeans, it was inhabited by native tribes. The earliest settlers from Europe first arrived during the 1730s. The first house was built in 1768 by Tabitha and George Roach Tavenner. Later, their son Richard and his wife Ann Hatcher decided to build an estate known as Harmony. This was how the surrounding area got its name Harmony.

In 1831, the Snickers Gape Turnpike Company and Leesburg created a road attaching Snickersville and Leesburg. This allowed the areas to grow in population. By 1833, there were enough people to attend Harony Methodist Church, which thrived off the donations from attendants. The land it was built upon was donated from Richard and Ann Hatcher Tavenner.

Family in Hamilton Updates their Kitchen and Bath

Fairfax Kitchen and Bath received a call from a property owner in Hamilton, asking about the various products offered for kitchen and bathroom remodeling. They opted to have these areas redone using the quality granite stone sold by our company. They also decided to purchase other items to spruce up these areas. This included a vanity, sinks and faucets, knobs and pulls, and a backsplash.

The customers were very happy with the result of our craftsmanship and the quality of our products. We partner with manufacturers that are well-known for their quality and style.

The husband and wife were pleased with the quick results. They even decided to hire us again for future work on their property.

An Outdated Kitchen and Bath

The family contacted us about was outdated in its appliances and features. The couple decided they wanted to update key areas of their kitchen and bathroom. The idea was to somewhat modernize the place, without taking away from its dated feel. They did like certain aspects of the home and how it gave a historic vibe. However, they felt the old wooden cabinets and bathroom fixtures were old, rusted and were beyond repair. Even the cabinets needed more than just a refacing.
Sometimes, old-fashioned furniture doesn’t suffice, especially when homeowners don’t properly maintain them. The couple had recently purchased the property and were looking to make several upgrades over time to make the home more appealing.

Renovating the Kitchen

The kitchen was the first area we decided to attack in this project. After showcasing the granite options in our showroom, we scheduled an appointment with the family. We estimated that the entire project would take somewhere between three to five days. We could match the expectations set forth by our licensed experts.
We started by gutting out the cabinetry and the countertops. We made sure to take careful measurements, so there would be no problems during the installation.

A Bathroom Renovation

In the bathroom, the couple decided they wanted new tile for the flooring, vanity and sinks. These are all products offered through Fairfax Kitchen and Bath. This makes it convenient for our customers to get everything they need in one place.

We began with stripping out the vanity, then began working on the flooring. The customer decided to go with a quality tile made by Daltile. There are various other tile options to choose from as well. Once the flooring was complete, we moved onto installing the new vanity and water fixtures. This process took one day to complete. The bathroom had an old-fashioned stand up shower that’s attached to the tub.
The vanity chosen was very solid and worked well with the décor of the bathroom. It included off-white granite stone. Both the kitchen and the bathroom included new sinks from our line of products.

Homeowners in Loudoun County, VA Remodel Kitchen and Bathroom with Stone

kitchen bathroom remodeling loudoun county vaIn the Commonwealth of Virginia, you can find the nice community of Loudoun County. As of 2015, there were 375,629 people living here. This makes it the county with the third highest population. It is one of the counties within the statistical area of Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV Metro. In 2012, the median income of households here was over $117,000. It has been ranked first in America for having a high median income with over 65,000 people.

There’s plenty of history here, like with most counties throughout Virginia. Loudoun County was first established back in 1757. It received its name from Jon Campbell, who was the Fourth Earl of Loudoun. He was also the Governor General of Virginia between 1756 and 1759. Settlement in the western area didn’t occur until the 1720s and 1730s. Some of the people that settled here include Scots-Irish, Quakers and Germans, along with a mix of others. They all came from Pennsylvania and Maryland.

The county was the most populous in Virginia before the American Revolution took place. The county was known for contributing grain to the Continental Army of George Washington. This is how it earned its nickname as Breadbasket of the Revolution.

Things to Do in Loudoun County

As you could imagine, there are lots of things to do here in Loudoun County, Virginia. This includes visiting art galleries like the Gallery on Madison, They Byrne Gallery, Red Fox Fine Art and Waddell Art Gallery. Remodeling a Kitchen and Bath in Loudoun County

A property owner in Loudoun County, VA contacted Fairfax Kitchen and Bath about remodeling their kitchen and master bathroom. They wanted a quote to have stone slabs installed for the counters, walls and backsplash. They also requested to have the tile floors in the bathroom renovation. Our experts came to their home to do measurements and to provide a thorough quote. All the estimates we offer are provided free of charge and are no-obligation. The homeowner agreed to our quotation and scheduled an appointment for us to begin.

Happy Customer in Loudoun County

The customer with the Loudoun County Property was ecstatic with the results we provided. They showed off the property to their family and friends, who’s idea it was to remodel the home in the first place. The couple really liked the stones they selected for the kitchen design  and bathroom design . The tile walls and backsplash went well with the colors of the countertops and the rest of the décor. The project was completed seamlessly, without any problems.

The Installation Process

Once the homeowner accepted our estimate, we invited him down to the showroom to look around at the slabs we have available. They chose dark blue granite for the bathroom and a white granite slab for the kitchen. The contrasting dark gray veins went perfectly with the dark gray tile used for the backsplah in the kitchen. White tile was used for the bathroom walls in the tub and shower areas.

The entire process took us two days to complete. We began with the kitchen, removing the countertop and old backsplash. We then installed the new slabs, which were fabricated by our professionals using the measurements we took down during the estimation. We then moved on to the master bathroom, which had a vanity that needed replacing. The homeowner chose one from our line of products. We then installed the blue granite stone slab on top of the new vanity. The customer opted to have the bathroom sink replaced, since the one in the kitchen had already been upgraded.

Georgetown Kitchen Makeover

kitchen bathroom remodeling georgetown vaThe populated place of Georgetown is found in Northumberland County, about 110 feet above sea level. There is no specific information about the population of Georgetown as there had been no record of it being included in Census counts at any time. However, it is in the area of Census Region 3 and the South Atlantic Division. Within a 10-mile radius of Georgetown are two communities, which has a combined population as of 2015 of 1,437.

The interesting thing about Georgetown that is officially recorded is that it is only one of four communities in Virginia called Georgetown. One is within the city limits of Charlottesville, while two others are in Shenandoah and Hanover County. It is also a very popular name outside of Virginia. There are at least 109 communities with the same name, ranging from Alabama to Wisconsin. The community in Northumberland County, however, is the one that most people look to when talking about Georgetown, VA.

Everybody seems to know the location of Georgetown, VA (37° 42' 7" N, 76° 25' 30" W) , but there is no specific mention of it in any census, not even in the Atlas by Rand McNally published in 1895. If you look at Georgetown in the map, you will see that it is in the vicinity of Georgetown Road and an intriguingly named Dollhouse Lane, but when you search for these streets, it comes up as part of Heathsville, VA, the county seat and census-designated place in Northumberland County. By inference, it can be said that the populated place of Georgetown, VA is part of Heathsville CDP. Heathsville is just 6 miles to the North of Georgetown.

Things to do in Georgetown

A tour of Georgetown will likely land you in some other community in the surrounding area. Among these are Wicomico Church, Blackberry, Bridgetown, Chestnut Grove, Christ Church, Cove Colony, and of course, Heathsville. The most promising attractions in Heathsville include the campgrounds of Kirkland Compound and the Bush Mill Stream Natural Area Preserve, plus a number of churches. It would be fair to say that Georgetown is probably a rural community.

Kitchen modifications

The client lives in a luxurious 3,000 square foot Colonial style home with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms on Georgetown Road. It is a gracious home with a good mix of the old and the new built in 1988, with hardwood floors, timber ceilings, and modern amenities. Curiously enough, the kitchen seemed like an afterthought. The layout was galley style, and it was cramped, the cabinets were substandard, and the countertops and floors were of uninspired white ceramic tiles. The client wanted it completely remodeled so that it would be more in keeping with the warm and graceful lines of the adjacent dining and living room. She called us in for a consultation.

Consultation

The kitchen was quite a surprise after having gone through the main level of the home, and it was obvious why the client was dissatisfied with it. It struck a jarring note that was hard to ignore. The client was not specific about what she wanted, and was inclined to leave it to our best judgment. We offered her our luxury package, which included all demolition and installations, new cabinets, floors, new sinks with attendant plumbing, granite countertops, full height glass backsplash, and appliances hookup. The client was inclined to agree immediately to the package cost, and again asked us to choose the materials that would go with the general design of the home. Her only two stipulations were she wanted hardwood floors and to incorporate the chandelier into the design, as it was a family heirloom and part of a set that included the dining room and living room. We made appropriate adjustments to the package cost to accommodate hardwood instead of tile floors, and we had a green signal.

Project issues

Because it was a complete remodeling and we were given carte blanche over the project, our biggest issue was correctly divining the taste and preferences of the client. She was very nice but quite vague older lady who liked to entertain but spent very little time in the kitchen. It took several interviews before we felt comfortable about making the major decisions over the materials we should use. Her main concern was how long the project would take, as her birthday was two months away and she was planning a big party. We estimated it would take four to five weeks.

Post construction

As we were left pretty much to our own devices, the work went quickly, and we could pull out of the home in a little over four weeks. The client was very pleased with the result, especially as we had widened and moved the existing island a good two feet further away from the sink, which made the kitchen look much less cramped. We also chose a white Lancaster maple cabinets and drawers from Touchstone, hardwood floors that matched the rest of the house, and River White granite. We had also relocated the chandelier more to the center of the space, directly over the kitchen counter. It was a dramatic transformation that immediately improved the flow of the home.

Graceful home

We at Fairfax Kitchen and Bath found this project refreshing and challenging. We were able to give full rein to the demands of our skills and knowledge in kitchen design and remodeling while keeping the client's needs in mind. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and we believed we had done a good job of restoring this one back to excellent health.

While we infinitely prefer the client's input when embarking on a project, we can execute a project just as well when put on automatic pilot. We make a point of delivering products and services with the same care and precision on our own as when the client is hovering over us at all times.

We are the company to call when you need complete kitchen or bathroom remodeling. We will provide you with a NO OBLIGATION free estimate and design to help you realize your vision, or even lack of it.

Family Home in Leesburg, VA Upgraded with Stone

A young family in Leesburg, Virginia contacted Fairfax Kitchen and Bath about updating their property with beautiful new fixtures, cabinetry, vanities and stone slabs. The property owners came to our showroom to select the granite stone slabs they wanted installed in their kitchen and bathrooms. The couple wanted to have their home upgraded with new sinks, faucets, knobs and pulls, cabinetry, countertops, vanities and backsplashes. The bathroom floors were also to be redone using the tile from our line of products.

Family Loves their Newly Designed Home

Once the upgrades were performed by our licensed professionals, the couple and their family admired their new residence. The finished look of the kitchen and bathrooms gave the property new appeal. Plus, it helped to raise the property value. That’s the great thing about installing new cabinetry and granite stone. You can never go wrong when you implement natural stones into your home’s décor. As always, the outcome was satisfactory, which is what our contractors strive for each time.

The Project

The experts at Fairfax Kitchen and Bath went to the customers’ residence to take measurements of the floors, counters, cabinets and walls to determine how much product would be needed to complete the work. An upfront estimation was provided, so the property owner would know exactly what they’d be paying when they hired us. The couple decided to purchase one of our deluxe packages for the kitchen and bathroom.

Once the granite slabs were cut into the proper proportions and the cabinetry were fabricated as needed, the products were transported to the residence for installation. Our contractors went to work right away removing the old cabinetry and counters from the kitchen. Then resorted to removing the vanities and flooring from both bathrooms.

Next, our contractors started working on installing the new cabinetry inside of the kitchen, followed by the granite stone installation. The kitchen had a kitchen island and lots of counters for prepping and hosting meals. Afterward, the granite backsplash that ran along the countertops and behind the stove was implemented meticulously.

The next area we worked on was the two bathrooms. We first started with the master bathroom, then worked our way over to the second bathroom. The flooring was done first, using hardwood from our selection of products. Afterward, we started installing the vanities and then the granite counters and sinks. The knob pulls they selected were installed on the cabinetry in the kitchen and in the bathroom design.
